We’ve spent the past week at our realtor’s pseudo-rental house. She was kind enough to rent it to us while I recouped from surgery and Bryan finished out his last week at Genie. From there we managed to sell the Kubota tractor, attend one more Bob-A-Que (annual neighborhood party) and try (I say try because to Bryan it is still a mess) to organize the camper – looks like the entire Clampett clan is moving to NM instead of just the three of us – and this is just the camper, not including the three PODS we are having shipped down.
Monday, August 4, found us ‘hitting the road’ by 8 AM. Not too far though, we need to ease into this moving thing – we made a longish stop in Monroe to have some steel valve stems put on the inner dually tires and install two new truck batteries – I took this time to deposit revenues from the tractor & car sale – yes, we finally parted with our old Honda – and to drop off a donation to the Sky Valley Food Bank (www.svfoodbank.org) and to ship a couple packages to Mom & Dad of things we won’t need for a while (business clothes, steel toed boots, maple tree seedling, dress shoes). We were finally able to pull out of Monroe for the last time at 11 AM. Sad to be leaving but I bet it won’t really hit us until later – like when we don’t go back in a few weeks.

We headed west on Hwy 2 and hooked up with I-5 north. We stopped at the Smokey Point rest area to dump the camper then headed on to Burlington, WA & Camping World. J After picking up a few supplies – I mean really, who doesn’t need the USA sticker-map to show what states they’ve visited?? - we were on to Hwy 20 and Pearrygin Lake State Park. We made it as far as the view point just past Newhalem when Bryan noticed we had a transmission leak on the truck. So he unhooked the Jeep and headed back into Marblemount (hopefully not further) to get some more fluid (the one thing the Clampett’s didn’t pack) while Bear & I sat at the viewpoint, watching the tourists.
After careful monitoring, two quarts of fluid, & me following in the Jeep watching for leaks, we made it to Pearrygin Lake State Park around 7 PM. With this nifty new ATT pc card we are able to connect to the internet – and Bryan was able to research the issue… that’s for another blog or forum… and we hope to make it to Spokane (probably again with me following in the Jeep looking for leaks) tomorrow to have it fixed.

Hi Raymona, Happy Trails to you and Bryan!!! I travel to Colorado and New Mexico just about every year, so girl, I'll be callin' you!! Take your time and enjoy the beautiful drive to New Mexico!! Miss ya my friend!! ~ Vangie ~
Wouldn't you know that you'd get beautiful weather like that just when you are leaving Washington. Hey, if it always looked like that--clear blue skies and sun--everyone would be living there and no one would ever leave.
Ever since we left Washington state back in 1985, I've appreciated every clear day we've ever had...
