Hmmm.... hard rains and everything starts leaking. First the skylight in the master bath, then around the ducting in the garage and now... the living room & laundry room windows. The windows didn't leak during the first hard rain but this last one (last Saturday, 10/11) included really hard winds that blew the rain against the house and the affected windows. What a pain.
The bright side is that we just mop it up and turn it into the rental agency, they send out someone to fix and voila, we are done! The only thing for us is the inconvenience of having to let the workers in - but we don't have to do the work or pay for it. Hmmmm.... there may be something to this renting thing! haha
The rain is actually a very welcome entity here. They (& now us I suppose) have been in a severe drought for several years. Any moisture is a cause for celebration. But this rain came with high, high winds, in fact they think a tornado struck near the town we were going to move to in the "East Mountains" (east of Albuquerque along I-40 on the east side of the Sandia Mtns - that whole area is called the East Mountains). Did some damage and people were out of power for about 26 hours.
It's weird to have to be so conscious of water usage - twofold for us - one, we've lived the past 15 years in a very wet environment where it wasn't ever a HUGE concern and secondly, we haven't had to pay for water for the past 13 years (always had a private well & septic). So now, I try to NOT let the water run when I'm washing dishes, I fill the sink and just run it to rinse, I am more conscious about making sure I have a full load of laundry or dishwasher before running it. I know, I know - should have been doing that all along but...
